Online Formula One Betting - British Grand Prix (July 4-6)
Positioned at the halfway point in the Formula One calendar, the British Grand Prix is pivotal to the Formula One betting race. Last year in his debut F1 season Lewis Hamilton came into the race at Silverstone as a real contender in the betting for the Formula One drivers’ championship holding a 14 lead. By contrast, in 2008 Hamilton arrives on home soil fourth in the Drivers World Championship, following two poor races in Canada and France. Can Hamilton turn things around? Can Hamilton Learn from Mistakes at Silverstone?
Hamilton came into the 2007 race with eight straight podiums and two wins from his previous three races, so understandably hopes were sky high that he could become the first British driver since David Coulthard in 2000 to win at Silverstone. Unfortunately, they were to be disappointed. Hamilton could only manage third position (fortunate at that) 39 behind Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen when he took the chequered flag to a muted grandstand
‘As a driver I’m still learning. I still have time [speed] to find in myself in terms of experience. I struggled here despite having raced here before.’ Commented a contrite Hamilton in the race post-mortem admitting to mistakes.

In reality Hamilton may have lost the race before it had begun. He made a wrong decision with the set-up choosing a different rear end from his team mate who pushed Raikkonen, when they normally shared a similar set-up. That proved a hard lesson, but the key issue was that he was lightly-fuelled to have much of a chance in the race, and was lucky to maintain his run of podiums - he would not have finished third had Massa not stalled on the grid.
This year his previous two races featured a crash in Montreal and a 10th place finish at Magny-Cours, hardly inspiring form. So the questions is – can home support lift Hamilton? Punters should take careful notice of testing at Silverstone scheduled for 24-26 June which will give some very useful clues for the race weekend July 4-6th, before heading to PinnacleSports.com to place their bets.
